Neuro Presents The Ruse at the Viper Room Friday night.

The Ruse plays a mellow style of indie rock emphasizing catchy vocal melodies and an acoustic and almost ethereal feeling guitar. John Dauer’s wailing and moody vocals combine with Jim Bilus’ ethereal and raw guitar to make a unique sound that resonates with fans of all types of music. Their recently released album, Midnight in the City, offers a bluesy feel that still incorporates the “Britpop” and new wave aspects of their previous work. The vocally driven, pop/rock hit ‘Beautiful is Gone’ combines crunchy, rock inspired guitar riffs with wailing vocals. ‘Beautiful is Gone’ was featured in June as the Itunes Single of the Week. The title track, ‘Midnight in the City’ is a heartfelt bluesy ballad with a raw classic rock sound and mellow, emotional vocals. They were recently nominated for Breakout Artist (LA) at the MTV Video Music Awards and their songs have been featured in The Hills, Entourage and many other TV shows. When the band is not making guest appearances on The Hills, they are diligently gigging. They have done 6 coast to coast tours since the release of their first album in 2005. Their years of touring have helped them to refine their live show into an unrivaled and epic experience.
