City of Blinding Lights

U2 fans got everything they ever wanted and more from last night’s Rose Bowl Concert – the biggest in the venue’s history. As over 95,000 fans streamed into Pasadena – U2 would have been proud of the orderly, peaceful gathering. This was aided in large part due to the “pre-show” that enabled fans to come early and literally “picnic in the park”. Tens of thousands of people took the cue to start the day off with the sounds of local LA-band The Ruse, who played three sets to great response during the afternoon. It was a hot sunny day, so it was a good thing there were plenty of ice-cold Neuro drinks to go around! NeuroBliss put everyone in a natural state of happiness and NeuroSonic helped flagging energy on the long day, revving the crowd for the main attraction.

The Black Eyed Peas opened the show in the jam-packed stadium, playing their crowd-pleasing hits opening appropriately with “Let’s get It Started” and surprising the crowd with Guns ‘n Roses’ “Sweet Child o Mine” with special guest star, Slash.

But the roar of the fans rose to epic proportions when U2 took the stage. Opening with “Breathe” and continuing with “Get On Your Boots” and “Mysterious Ways”, it became exceedingly clear to everyone in the Bowl why U2 has been called the greatest rock band in the world. During a weather-appropriate rendition of “Beautiful Day”, Bono sang a few lines from “In God’s Country”. The Dublin quartet continued to wow fans with well-loved classics like “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” and “Sunday Bloody Sunday”. For their song, “In A Little While”,  an astronaut in the International Space Station spoke the last verse. The politically-minded musicians played a recorded message from Desmond Tutu before launching into their heart-stopping encore featuring “One”, “Amazing Grace”, “With or Without You” and “Where the Streets Have No Name”, and “Moment of Surrender.”

All in all, for Neuro fans and music fans: a night – make that a day – they will never forget.
