The rainy season has begun and over 700,000 Haitians are still without any shelter. We all must do something soon or more people will die! Amber Valletta, Eva Longoria and Maria Bello have joined forces to create Raise a Roof for Haiti. Their mission is to provide 100,000 tents to families before Hurricane season begins in May. You can help do that by purchasing waterproof tents or donating directly. To purchase a tent or a make a donation go to www.ahomeinhaiti.org. Your contribution will provide an immediate home in Haiti for people that so desperately need it. After you make your donation, please help spread the word, via twitter, facebook, etc!

Actor, director, and activist Sean Penn and philanthropist/entrepreneur Diana Jenkins have launched their new campaign, Beat the Rain, in hopes of relocating many thousands of Haitians currently living in tent cities before the onset of heavy rains – the rainy season begins in March. The goal is to protect those Haitians living in tent cities and camps from the potential outbreak of disease such as cholera, typhoid, malaria, tetanus, and tuberculosis.

An estimated $8 million is needed to build temporary, 500 square foot homes and to expedite relocation.

The Beat the Rain campaign mission is to raise funds for secure, temporary homes and to call on local officials to expedite the inspection process to protect citizens from the rain and even more destruction.

“When the rain comes,” Penn says, “it’s going to be a public health disaster. It could easily be on the scale of the earthquake itself. What we’re trying to do is prevent it. The inspection process is too slow and people are not being let back into their homes. There is enormous risk if they are not relocated or given better means of shelter soon.”

Penn went on to say that disease is already spreading. “There were incredible hygiene problems within the neighborhoods prior to the quake. This is a new disaster waiting to happen, if we do not take action now and do something to prevent it.”

J/P HRO has already accomplished some pretty amazing feats.

Some examples of their accomplishments include:

1. Delivering more than 100,000 pounds of medical supplies.
2. Distributing roughly 2,000 meals a day to earthquake victims.
3. They have successfully cut through red tape and bureaucracy in order to get large shipments of antibiotics and anesthetics into the country.
4. They have donated much needed medical equipment such as an X-ray machine, ultrasound machine, and ventilators to hospitals.

You can donate through the J/P HRO website.

Neuro founder and President, Diana Jenkins, will be joining Sean Penn tonight on Larry King Live on CNN at 6 PST/ 9 EST to discuss the many issues facing orphans in Haiti and the work of the Jenkins-Penn Haitian Relief Organization. The JP HRO works directly with other humanitarian operations as a “relief provider to relief providers.” It queries hospitals and other organizations daily about their immediate needs and then arranges rapid deployment of staffing and supplies to meet those demands.

Jenkins and Penn Fly 10 Doctors and 12,000 Pounds of

Medical Supplies and Humanitarian Aid to Haiti

Ms. Jenkins, owner of the popular Neuro beverage brand, began her relief initiative immediately following the earthquake, providing a $1 million donation to launch the group’s efforts. Mr. Penn has already organized delivery of 12,000 pounds of medical supplies and humanitarian aid, while Ms. Jenkins has accompanied doctors and nurses to the country to provide critical assistance. Additional doctors and more supplies provided by the Jenkins-Penn Haitian Relief Organization were scheduled to arrive in Haiti on Saturday.
Said Ms. Jenkins: “The world cannot ignore the cries it hears from Haiti. The time to act is now, or Haiti’s pain will only get worse. These funds will help ease not only immediate suffering, but provide seed money for rebuilding devastated hospitals and schools. My experience in Bosnia has taught me that without those fundamental institutions, needless suffering continues.”
Added Mr. Penn: “We believe that whenever and to whomever suffering occurs, and a fellow human can lend a hand, they should lend a hand. Diana has set an example for all of us. Donating time and money is critical to ease Haiti’s suffering.”
The Jenkins-Penn Haitian Relief Organization works directly with other humanitarian operations as a “relief provider to relief providers.” It queries hospitals and other organizations daily about their immediate needs and then arranges rapid deployment of staffing and supplies to meet those demands.
Ms. Jenkins, founder of The Sanela Diana Jenkins Foundation for Bosnia and Herzegovina, is committed to restoring dignity, prosperity, justice and hope to her native country, pursuing diplomatic, philanthropic, educational and legal initiatives.

Here at Neuro we intend to do everything in our power to help Haiti and are encouraged by the way Hollywood is taking the reins and getting involved.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have donated $1 million dollars and will work closely with friend Wyclef Jean to support the humanitarian efforts on the island and help those who have been injured and left without homes and shelter.
Wyclef Jean, a Haitian-born and Brooklyn-raised musician created the grassroots charity organization Yéle Haiti in 2005. Now he is doing all that he can to raise money and support for his homeland. Find out about helping at Yéle Haiti and donate $5 by texting YELE to 501501.
Tyra Banks is urging fans to donate to the Yele organization to help the Haitian earthquake relief effort, as are actress Jessica Alba and rap mogul Sean Combs through Twitter. Also on the Twitter bandwagon are Ashton Kutcher, Rainn Wilson, Olivia Wilde, John Legend, Alyssa Milano, Selena Gomez, E!’s Sal Masekela and countless others, guiding people to charity and relief organizations where you can donate and contribute to the rescue efforts in Haiti.
Haitian native and “Heroes” cast member Jimmy Jean-Louis is the founder of Hollywood Unites for Haiti, a nonprofit organization whose original mission was to provide sports and cultural education to underprivileged youth on the island. Now in the wake of this devastating tragedy, the group is mobilizing for disaster relief. You can donate money or equipment to Jimmy Jean-Louis charity, Hollywood Unites for Haiti here.
George Clooney plans to host a telethon to raise funds through MTV. He has already reached out to countless fellow artists including Sting and Trudi Styler. Earlier today, the Golden Globe-producing Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced it would be donating $100,000 to the cause. The US has pledged $100 million and that’s just the beginning. The American Red Cross’s efforts to get donations via text messages has raised $5 million for Haiti as of 5 pm today. Former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton have agreed to help the Obama administration’s efforts by taping public service announcements and eventually traveling to Haiti, according to officials.
After so much pain and suffering, the people of Haiti deserve our help and support. Please find it in your heart to do whatever you can to bring ease to a suffering nation — no matter how small your contribution — everything helps.
